Herbs are our best friend, patiently waiting on windowsills, in the forest, in your garden, in meadows to be connected with and for their medicine to be shared. Its a partnership that we have with them, we care for them and they care for us. Everything in nature is in partnership in relationship and by caring for the other side we have balance. We have a relationship with our body and honouring and respecting it and its needs is how we have health.

To help boost our immune system and keep our system strong there is many things we can do. Traditionally different herbs have been used to strengthen the immune system. You also may have many of these herbs already in your kitchen (oregano, thyme, rosemary, cinnamon etc).

  • Rest and relaxation- finding time to rest and relax is very important for the immune system. If there is subtle stresses going on or big ones these drain the body and its ability to protect itself. It is simple, but hard to do in this modern world but I highly recommend creating space in your day to let go, relax and be. We schedule in time to eat, work, sleep, friends – relaxation is just as important.
  • Positive thinking- Being careful to not get into gloom and doom. Gossip, negative chats are addictive and it can be hard to break the cycle, especially when there is a lot of fear. But not engaging in it you will feel much better. Negative thoughts create bad feelings, bad feelings weaken the immune system. Try meditation, yoga, EFT or whatever practice helps you to feel positive and create awareness.
  • Vitamin C- Helps to strengthen your immune system. Talk to your practitioner about how much to take. Normally, you take as much as you can before getting loose stools. I take 2000-3000 mg a day. If you have adrenal or stress issues, smoke cigarettes higher doses are more suited. Speak with your Doctor about what is the best dose for you.
  • Elderberry is wonderful. Traditionally, it is antiviral and also helps boost the immune system. Syrup is one of the best ways to take it. Tincture form is also good.
  • Zinc – helps boost the immune system, however over time can deplete copper in the body so make sure you address this correctly if you are taking it over a long period of time.
  • Astragalus- Traditionally useful for boosting the immune system. Used for fatigue and chi deficiency.
  • Diet is important- make sure to eat whole foods, lots of veggies and good protein sources.
  • thieves essential oil- using it to clean your house and also as a hand sanitizer
  • Shiitake mushrooms are great for the immune system and taste awesome
  • Using ginger, onions, garlic, herbs, shiitake in your cooking more can give your your immune system some power.

If you do come down this something-

  • Oregano Oil – traditionally used as an antiviral. Take it in the mouth so that you get the benefits through the whole sinus track.
  • Garlic- Traditionally, eating raw cloves and also integrate it into your cooking
  • Thyme – traditionally used in oil form, tea form or a steam.
  • Ginger- Traditionally, anti viral and also in the case of fever
  • Vitamin C
  • Colloidal silver
  • Get fresh air, rest lots and drinks lots of warm teas.

Because there is no hand sanitizer left in the stores here is a recipe:

Aloe vera gel (if sold out you can use vegetable glycerin)

thieves oil ( cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus, lemon, rosemary) Add around 25-40 drops per 100ml.
