The flowers are blooming, the earth is moist and the air has a fresh scent that inspires you to create. But to create, we first have to create space and to do that we need to let go of what is old and outdated- what we wish to release once and for all. We want to move into the summer season with lightness and health, but this begins by investing in our health in the Spring. Spring is the time of the liver in Chinese Medicine and it is, for this reason, the best time to cleanse the liver. The liver also governs our vision and if we can’t see what we want, then we won’t be able to create what we want.

Signs of a liver that is in need of cleansing is:  acne, skin issues, inflammation in the eyes, sluggishness, foggy head, poor elimination, digestive issues, anger, frustration, hormone imbalances, fatigue, pain on the right upper portion of your abdomen, malabsorption of nutrients, chemical sensitivities and the list goes on. The liver is a very important member of your body and when it’s not functioning optimally, the rest of our body suffers.

We need to do some ‘Spring Cleaning’! Cleaning the external and the internal. We must let go of old clothes, clutter, dysfunctional relationships, unhealthy lifestyle patterns, whatever is dead.  Reflecting on what is outdated and dead in my life? What am I carrying around that is done and doesn’t nourish me anymore? This applies to everything in our life, as well as our health. This is the time to do cleanses, detoxification of the body, to shed old skin like a snake and welcome rebirth.

There are some simple changes you can make that can have a positive effect on your health. They are:

  • Eating lots of fresh greens and veggies- if your digestion is sensitive or you feel cold often, steam them.
  • Eating more foods that have a bitter taste like bitter melon, kale, dandelion leaves etc
  • Drinking warm water with some lemon juice or apple cider vinegar in the morning
  • Incorporating herbs into your diet that help your liver like Milk Thistle, Dandelion, Burdock etc (Please check with a qualified health practitioner or a Medical Doctor if you have any health concerns or issues before taking any herbs. A qualified herbalist will be able to tell you if a specific herb is a good choice for you).
  • Camomile Tea is gentle and effective in assisting the liver and is calming
  • Reduce and eventually eliminate refined sugar and wheat
  • Cut back on red meat and dairy
  • Decrease consumption of fried, oily foods
  • Exercise daily to break a sweat

Have full integrating these tips into your life and feel revived and revitalized after winter. Spring is a time of creating a vision for the coming year and with a healthy liver, you will be ready to do it!

What’s with all the F***ing Happy People?

So many spiritual people emphasize gratitude, I know myself as well have endorsed it. Like a great commercial with sunsets and flying birds and little children skipping and singing and a woman says ” I am so grateful for …. it makes me feel wonderful and I can enjoy everything life has to offer, blah blah blah.” Just like the many prescription drugs available, we can have whatever  reality we want based on a concoction of chemicals. We can buy whatever we want, thinking it will give us happiness, but its as fleeting as a chocolate bar. One minute its there,  next minute we ate it. Gone, forever. Anyways, I don’t want to get too emotional or carried away with my happiness affair with chocolate, we have some important things to cover. Here we go!

5017b02967349f20897b69f47b5de287 Gratitude is a beautiful emotion but for some its very eluding. When down in the dumps, depressed or just plain enraged with life, its pretty damn hard to feel gratitude. Why is that? Well, we cant see what we don’t feel. The darker emotions tend to carry a heavy frequency, which also means its harder to move out of it, and harder to see truth through it.  Its like swimming in water, your in it, until you get out and even then your still soaking wet. It takes a while for it to dry off. Once the darker emotions pass then we can feel lighter and brighter. However, because its lighter it means it can easily be missed, its very subtle and it needs awareness to be maintained. Thats why if something bad happens its easier to get in the dumps than to maintain the happiness. Why am I telling you this? Because, by knowing that different emotions carry different frequencies we can focus on creating awareness and paying attention to the more subtle energies in life. As we do this, we cultivate peace, happiness and joy. Which are all higher frequencies. Gratitude is also an expression of a very high frequency and it is when we feel connected to life around us. It is when we actually SEE life.

I went to watch the sunrise this morning and as I was staring out to the ocean and watching the sun come up, I had an insight. I have heard the saying many times before and its funny how we can hear it, and even say it but until we have that ‘Aha’ moment its really just shallow. As I was having my own mini commercial about how great life was, I realized that ‘ everything is a gift’. It all comes from the Divine Mother, and like a mother she cares for us deeply. She gives us everything relentlessly. She loves us!! SOOO Freaking much. She is the mother that cant wait for your phone call. She is the mother that sends you money when you totally messed up. She is the mother that will give you whatever you want because she wants to see you happy. She sacrifices herself for you.

You are her life, blood and bones. You are made of her and she cherishes you. You are here because of her. This life is truly a gift and as quickly as it was given, it can be taken away. All of it. Nothing is yours. Everything was given to you. For a short time on earth, your body is yours, your house may be yours, your clothes is yours. But it can be stolen, it can be lost, it can be taken. Nothing is yours and that is the illusion. 

Our unhappiness comes from attachments to nouns; people, places and things. We think because we have paid with something it is ours. But we are never satisfied. We are empty. When we buy something for ourselves, its good. But when someone gives us something as a gift. We cherish is, we keep it for years even if we don’t like it.. like an ugly sweater. But because it was a gift we give it more meaning, it becomes significant. It became a material symbol of the heart, its significance becomes deeper than face value. 3b2444b38c5efac72da00fc1c22f7b67

We get so attached to our things, to our people, to our friends, to our family. But we forget, they are not ours. In addition to them not being ours, they are a gift and when we stop seeing them as a gift, we lose gratitude, we loose appreciation. How many times are you present with the people you love? How many times do you act with them as though this is possibly the last time you will ever see them? Not much… usually we are so caught up in our own shit that we do not even realize we are not here. We are not giving each other our greatest gift, our presence. This is how we form regret. Because, people are a gift and they will not alway be around. One day, the Great Mother will take them back and we will be left with our memories. But will they be full ? Or Empty? e71a9bad1abcdb028997f63071046598

I urge you to feel life in a different way. To really see life as a gift, because we are only borrowing. We are only having a brief experience of human existence and it is fleeting.

Tell your family you love them, kiss that person you love with all of the feeling in your bones. Take a breath as though it was your last, savour it. Walk on the earth with eyes open that this is what I am made up of, all the food I eat comes from here and to here I will return. And reflect on the age old saying “money can’t buy happiness”. Because life is the ultimate gift and it was given to you, not bought.

Cherish every moment, it is so precious, it is a gift.

How to Release Stress and Move to Peace

Dear Stress, Lets Break Up

Stress is not from any outside quarter. Stress is when an outside pressure is not matched and overcome by your inside intelligence.

Stress is a sign we have lost our center and moved into fear and anxiety. We have contracted and cut ourselves off from source, thinking we have to do it all alone. To release stress we must connect back with ourselves and reconnect with our truth.  Learning to surrender, let go and working with the flow of life, rather than against it.

Choose 3 things to incorporate into your life, to create more peace, stillness and happiness.

Ways to Reduce stress:

  • Meditation, spiritual practice: Scientifically proven to reduce anxiety and stress and rewire the brain.
  • Breath work: Sitali Breath, Long Deep Breathing, breath of fire
  • Cat/ cow posture
  • Acupressure- point on the shoulders, neck and upper neck.
  • Lavender and Spearmint essential oils: Diffusing, or putting them in your massage oil
  • Listening to soft soothing music
  • Dancing
  • Eating whole, unprocessed foods
  • Reducing sugar and caffeine in your diet
  • Notice what triggers you and creates stress
  • Change your attitude to a different altitude – get positive: See the obstacles as a challenge rather than as a problem
  • Learn to say No: Don’t take on more than you can handle
  • Less is more
  • Go slow: Eat slow, walk slow, talk slow- reduce your pace
  • Mindfulness
  • Exercise- 30 minutes a day (yoga, swimming, light jog)
  • Get massages, especially  FOOT MASSAGES before bed
  • Eat dark chocolate
  • REST so you can rejuvenate
  • Laugh, watch something funny, be around friends that make you laugh
  • Make sure your Vitamin B is at normal levels- Take Vitamin B complex

Man under stress is his own enemy.

Ways to Unwind for the evening

  • Make your bedroom into a safe, relaxing space where you can retreat and dream well.
  • Don’t go on computer or cellphone after 6pm, so that you have time to unwind and the lights don’t activate your brain to alert mode.
  • Warm bath or shower
  • Drink magnesium calm before sleeping to relax the body
  • Foot massage either for yourself, or exchange with your partnerJ
  • Yoga Nidra- Deep Relaxation technique
  • Diffuse lavender essential oils
  • Have a Himalayan salt lamp in your room for light- also producing a calming, meditative effect

I will be doing a 40 day meditation starting July 1st and I wanted to extend the welcome to all.

The meditation activates the energy of Shiva – the Hindu God of Transformation. This meditation activates the healing process and balances the Gunas ( rajas, tamas, sattva – qualities of all creation). It brings the nervous system together and gives you the ability to heal at a distance, through your touch or projection. It helps to balance and heal psychological disorders and/or imbalances. As well, helps to heal father related issues/phobias.

I do hope you join me on this transformational 40 day adventure. By doing meditations with others we have more support and  the group energy created is very powerful. When we heal ourselves, we heal the world. We help to shift the vibration of the planet to one of more wholeness and light.

How To Release Fear ( False Evidence Appearing Real)

Overcoming Fear- Shifting into Fearlessness

“Love is what we are born with, Fear is what we learn here”

 Fear is the partner of the Ego. Fear is an exaggerated form of reality that tilts toward the negative, separate and isolated. There is no trust or connection. Fear is reliant on ego-centrism and keeps one in patterns which fuel the false self (ego).

The underlying emotion of all negative emotions is fear. It is the foundation of all emotions that leave us feeling separate from Source energy. To reconnect with love, one must stop focusing on self and focus on service.

The Voice of the Ego Versus the Soul

  • The ego is logical, mind-oriented energy, it lives in the past or the future. Soul is creative, based on the present moment and it lives in communion with the divine and lives with the pull of the soul rather than the push of the ego.
  • The ego is fear based. The ego always questions and doubts. It wonders will I survive, will I be accepted etc. Soul is based in love, it is trust, surrender and faith. The more one opens to faith the more miracles occur in life. Guidance from the soul is given one step at a time.
  • The ego sounds harsh. It is critical, judgmental and there are many “should” in its language. Intuition/love/soul is neutral. It receives messages on a steady and consistent basis without judgment.
  • The ego is self-serving. Whereas, the soul feels the need to serve others.

To Overcome Fear Writing Exercise:

  • Expose the fear, write it down, tell someone about it.
  • Face the discomfort, feel it and allow yourself to be vulnerable (the ego wants to hide- expose it) .
  • Witness what is happening, observe the sensations
  • Embrace the fear, and make a commitment to move past it
  • See all of the possibilities (what other options there are) and see the insanity of the fear.
  • Call in love- Forgive yourself and express gratitude and compassion.

Techniques to Manage Fear:

  • Pranayama: strengthen the Pranic body to keep the energy balance in the body so that one is not overcome with stress, anxiety and fear.
  • Focusing on service rather than on ones own gains. (help’s to release feelings of pressure and self importance)
  • Observe the sensations in the body and maintaining a neutral state of mind through meditation. Accept whatever arises. As well, noticing where fear is being held in the body and use the breath to release it.
  • Practice mindfulness and awareness to become aware of what fears are causing disruption in your life and what your triggers are.
  • When fear grips the body, practice long deep breathing to release the anxiety.
  • Do something everyday that scares you and brings you out of your comfort zone.
