How to Gain Energy in your Life

Why are we all so tired? Coffee is one of best selling products globally and people are so heavily reliant on it. Why is our world so tired? We do less p1ae700d6cf0c2aa02cb27cafeb35c181.jpghysical work than previous generations and yet many of us complain there isn’t enough time in the day, that we are too tired by the end of the day to do activities we enjoy.

Could it be that we try to fit too many things into the day? That we have too many applications running, too many e-mails to read and that we are overloaded? That our minds have not evolved to deal with the excess amount of data input that we need to process?

Could it be that what we are doing isn’t feeding us? That we are only feeding our wallets rather than our souls and our heart’s desire? Perhaps our ‘being tired’ is only an excuse so that we do not do what we actually dream of doing. Rather than facing our dreams we procrastinate them and say we do not have the energy. Our dreams become a plan B, instead of our only plan.

Many of us are struggling with low energy and so I wanted to give some insights and tips on how we can gain our energy back!

  • Do activities every day that feeds your heart. It can be as little as 5 minutes, but make sure you make time for pleasure in your day. Enjoy that cup of coffee as much as you can, soak in the aromas, feel the warmth against your tongue. Savor it. Soak in moments of laughter, the sun as you are walking to your destination. Be in the moment.
  • If there are things you greatly dislike doing, see if you can trade with someone else to do it. Doing things we dislike, drains us. See if it’s possible to either do it another way, do it another time or if you can pay someone else to do it. Sometimes it’s better to ask someone else that doesn’t mind to help, even when our mind gets in the way and says ‘we should do it all ourselves’.
  • If you can’t avoid doing something, see if you can change your attitude about it. Your attitude affects your whole day. See if you can shift it and allow the energy to flow, rather than resisting it. Also, working with the energy present; Sometimes it takes more energy to fight something than to actually do it.
  • Wanting to do too many things can drain your energy. Focus on one thing at a time. Don’t let your to-do list overwhelm you. Start with the priority and then move on. This applies to things you want to bring into your life. If you are trying to manifest a bunch of things it can be draining rather than fulfilling. Cut away from things that are not possible and feed the things that are possible. Also, cut away from things that you don’t actually want. If it has been over a year and you haven’t done it, it’s safe to say your not that interested. So, cut away from it so that you can regain energy and give that energy to something you actually want right now.
  • Open your mind to other possibilities. Perhaps the solution you have in your mind is draining your energy. See if you can think of another option that excites you!
  • Surround yourself with people that are fun to be around with. Your energy synergies with the energy of people around you. Hanging out with people that are complaining and have a negative outlook on life is draining. b893ded2c63b7645bac0ca653747100f.jpg
  • Eat whole foods, fresh foods that are full of prana, rather than anything preserved, canned and refined. Avoid refined sugar and refined foods as much as you can. If it’s been too altered your body won’t recognize it and it will drain your system.
  • Breath work- doing breath of fire, or alternate nostril breathing and deep breathing will help to fill you with vital energy. Also practicing Yoga helps. Many times we don’t need another coffee, we just need to open our lungs and take in some fresh air.
  • If your energy is low it helps to pray, chant, sing, play the drums, go into nature or connect with the divine. There are infinite amounts of energy out there but we have to connect with it, otherwise, we can run ourselves dry.
  • Have fun!! Being playful and doing things you love feeds you. Make your life about play and not work and your energy will dramatically shift!

 

Magic – The Real Power Behind Intention

Magic? What is it exactly? Hollywood and many authors have shown it as something witches and wizards possess. They use it to their advantage against innocent victims. It’s been presented in a very dark and twisted way. But it’s not like that at all!

Magic is mystical but it is positive and there are rules that come with using magic. What would we say magic is? I believe magic is a creation of desired events that appear miraculously because it transcends time and space in how it presents itself.

How we do we get magic in our lives?

It comes through using the mind as a focused and precise channel for creation. 

Anyone is capable of making magic!

It is using your mind in a clear and focused way, channeling your intention in whatever you are doing and seeing (visualizing) your desired goal. Human beings were made in the image of God (as many monotheistic traditions say), that means we have the same capacity to create. However, our minds are full of thoughts. We create many things we don’t want because our thoughts are messy. We think about the problems we have, we focus on the drama or our dog ripping apart our sofa.When those thoughts get cleared with techniques like meditation and yoga then we begin to be able to focus on our thoughts in a constructive manner.

You are what you think and your dreams are directly correlated with how your life looks like. You can tell the limit of people’s thoughts by how their life is. If you believe something is impossible, it becomes impossible. The matrix is real and it is here and now, but it’s not in the way you think. It’s in your mind, not outside of you.  Your ability to control your thoughts directly impacts the environment around you.

A human being is a creator and they all possess the ability to manifest magic. 

It is believing that you have this ability, it is a belief in your ability to create, that allows this gift to blossom.

Magic is here and now and it’s only desire is for you to awaken and use it. You are powerful, you create everything around you both good and bad. What will you choose?

 Laws of Magic:

  • Do no harm.
  • Whatever you do will come back to you 3x times, either good or bad. So focus on the good
  • Make sure that you are not intending to interfere in anyone’s life or take away their free will
  • Be clear- affirm your intention strongly. If you don’t take it seriously, how can the universe?
  • visualize your intention as being a success, feel it, smell it, taste it. Engage all of your senses

What’s with all the F***ing Happy People?

So many spiritual people emphasize gratitude, I know myself as well have endorsed it. Like a great commercial with sunsets and flying birds and little children skipping and singing and a woman says ” I am so grateful for …. it makes me feel wonderful and I can enjoy everything life has to offer, blah blah blah.” Just like the many prescription drugs available, we can have whatever  reality we want based on a concoction of chemicals. We can buy whatever we want, thinking it will give us happiness, but its as fleeting as a chocolate bar. One minute its there,  next minute we ate it. Gone, forever. Anyways, I don’t want to get too emotional or carried away with my happiness affair with chocolate, we have some important things to cover. Here we go!

5017b02967349f20897b69f47b5de287 Gratitude is a beautiful emotion but for some its very eluding. When down in the dumps, depressed or just plain enraged with life, its pretty damn hard to feel gratitude. Why is that? Well, we cant see what we don’t feel. The darker emotions tend to carry a heavy frequency, which also means its harder to move out of it, and harder to see truth through it.  Its like swimming in water, your in it, until you get out and even then your still soaking wet. It takes a while for it to dry off. Once the darker emotions pass then we can feel lighter and brighter. However, because its lighter it means it can easily be missed, its very subtle and it needs awareness to be maintained. Thats why if something bad happens its easier to get in the dumps than to maintain the happiness. Why am I telling you this? Because, by knowing that different emotions carry different frequencies we can focus on creating awareness and paying attention to the more subtle energies in life. As we do this, we cultivate peace, happiness and joy. Which are all higher frequencies. Gratitude is also an expression of a very high frequency and it is when we feel connected to life around us. It is when we actually SEE life.

I went to watch the sunrise this morning and as I was staring out to the ocean and watching the sun come up, I had an insight. I have heard the saying many times before and its funny how we can hear it, and even say it but until we have that ‘Aha’ moment its really just shallow. As I was having my own mini commercial about how great life was, I realized that ‘ everything is a gift’. It all comes from the Divine Mother, and like a mother she cares for us deeply. She gives us everything relentlessly. She loves us!! SOOO Freaking much. She is the mother that cant wait for your phone call. She is the mother that sends you money when you totally messed up. She is the mother that will give you whatever you want because she wants to see you happy. She sacrifices herself for you.

You are her life, blood and bones. You are made of her and she cherishes you. You are here because of her. This life is truly a gift and as quickly as it was given, it can be taken away. All of it. Nothing is yours. Everything was given to you. For a short time on earth, your body is yours, your house may be yours, your clothes is yours. But it can be stolen, it can be lost, it can be taken. Nothing is yours and that is the illusion. 

Our unhappiness comes from attachments to nouns; people, places and things. We think because we have paid with something it is ours. But we are never satisfied. We are empty. When we buy something for ourselves, its good. But when someone gives us something as a gift. We cherish is, we keep it for years even if we don’t like it.. like an ugly sweater. But because it was a gift we give it more meaning, it becomes significant. It became a material symbol of the heart, its significance becomes deeper than face value. 3b2444b38c5efac72da00fc1c22f7b67

We get so attached to our things, to our people, to our friends, to our family. But we forget, they are not ours. In addition to them not being ours, they are a gift and when we stop seeing them as a gift, we lose gratitude, we loose appreciation. How many times are you present with the people you love? How many times do you act with them as though this is possibly the last time you will ever see them? Not much… usually we are so caught up in our own shit that we do not even realize we are not here. We are not giving each other our greatest gift, our presence. This is how we form regret. Because, people are a gift and they will not alway be around. One day, the Great Mother will take them back and we will be left with our memories. But will they be full ? Or Empty? e71a9bad1abcdb028997f63071046598

I urge you to feel life in a different way. To really see life as a gift, because we are only borrowing. We are only having a brief experience of human existence and it is fleeting.

Tell your family you love them, kiss that person you love with all of the feeling in your bones. Take a breath as though it was your last, savour it. Walk on the earth with eyes open that this is what I am made up of, all the food I eat comes from here and to here I will return. And reflect on the age old saying “money can’t buy happiness”. Because life is the ultimate gift and it was given to you, not bought.

Cherish every moment, it is so precious, it is a gift.

Adrenal Fatigue- The Illness of the Modern Age

After years of pushing myself, I finally got the message my body was telling me. Enough is enough. Balance is key.

Well.. after striving and pushing for most of my life, my body finally had enough.  The last two years of working in the film industry pushed my adrenals past their reserves. Lack of sleep, long hours and extended periods of stress have had their impact on my body.

Yoga and meditation helped to keep me afloat, but after a certain amount of time the weight of stress was too much and my body needed to get the message to my mind, to stop what was killing me.

I didn’t want to change my life, I didn’t want to change my way of living.  But the body knows otherwise. Humans are not meant to be operating at such a high level of intensity for a long duration of time. The flight and fight response is meant to only last minutes, not days, or weeks, or in many peoples cases, years.

So here I am now, in a sense of awe.. That my body is forcing me into hibernation.

It doesn’t care that my mind doesn’t want to stop, it doesn’t care that I had plans. It only cares about survival and its health. It wants me to live in balance and its forcing me to do so.

I don’t know how the future will be, but what I do know is that I will change. I will change in how I use my energy. I will change in how I work and I will change in the person I become. This has long term consequences and will take 1-2 years to recover.

I knew throughout the whole experience that this was happening, but I kept going forward chasing after money, consciously running myself into the ground.

Our society as a whole, is running towards this illness. Our gas tanks operate on coffee and sugar. Every morning it shocks me how many people are in line at coffee shops, and how many coffee shops are on each block. It is the drug of the modern age and most of us are sleep deprived.

When we are stressed we eat poorly, make bad decisions and smile less. I see these hurried people, miserable faces all over the place. Their bodies screaming “listen to me!!” But they don’t, just like I didn’t and then illness sets in to wake them up.

Wake up before you have no choice. I had my warning. Im changing my life. Because the other option isn’t a choice.

If you have these symptoms you are probably moving towards Adrenal or Chronic Fatigue, talk to a nutritionist/ naturopath sooner rather than later.

  • Still very tired when you get up in the morning, even if y0u had 8-10 hours of sleep
  • groggy and tired at 3-4pm
  • easily overwhelmed and stressed
  • digestion is off
  • as a woman your cycle could be off
  • low mood
  • irritable, easily angered
  • have no reserves, once you are tired there is nothing left.
  • wired, but tired
  • foggy, memory problems
  • need sugar or caffeine to keep going

The Best Teacher is YOU

Everything is a teacher. From the speck of sand, to the vines growing on a delapitated building, to your worst enemy.
Nothing escapes the realm of experience and from experience comes wisdom.
I can choose to perceive something as a challenge or I can see it as a threat. It all comes from the perspective I am living in.

By choosing to see things as a teacher I respond with respect.
No longer judging, criticizing, rather, accepting and moving forward with appropriate action.
Despair arises in life when we question ‘Why is this happening to me?”.
My response ” Why not?”.
You are being given a perfect opportunity to have a victory. To rise above your advisories and learn something new.
If you knew everything, nothing would happen to you, because you would know.

The Earth is a playground of education. It is where we come to settle our accounts and learn from past mistakes so they are not repeated again.

If you have patterns, your not learning. You are repeating.
Change your response, change your life.
It really is that simple. If you want to get out of the same repetitive cycles, than act different and you will have a different response.
We are so used to responding in the same manner we don’t even realize we are doing it.
Try responding with love and kindness and see how an open heart is the best defense..

Become devoted to learning, make your prayer to elevate yourself under all circumstances.
Become that which you wish to see in the world as Gandhi would say.
Be a student of yourself, and life itself.
